well it's not expensive here and a lot of people use it as an
additive. But repot every one or two years, unless you have an excellent
water supply, especially if using it as the whole mix. Materials like that
tend to absorb the metallic ions in water, retain them as they dry and the
salts eventually reach the surface of the particles in sufficient
concentration to burn roots.
