Many problems at the AOS can and should be laid at the feet of the outgoing
officers. In an orchestrated closed Executive Session after the November
Members' Meetings, some fancy wheeling and dealing occured. The prime mover was
conveniently absent and two of the most principled officers had made it known
in advance that would not be present due to family commitments. But the lackeys
were in full cry, unhindered by any thoughts of propriety or fairness! The fact
is that the two most damaging financial decisions of the past ten years for the
AOS can be laid squarely at the feet of the Machiavellian Mr. Money: the
ill-advised decision to locate in Delray Beach rather than West Palm Beach and
the outrageous membership dues increase, but it is always much easier to find a
scapegoat(s). I fear that the incoming President has been handed a poisoned
chalice but he surely will do his best in the next three years to restore a
little integrity to the inner circle. He will have his work cut out for him!
