Following Oliver Sparrow's description of his travels through Highland Sumatra, I have been inspired to submit my first comments to this mailing list. I am scheduled to travel to the Cardamon Mountains in Cambodia (south east of the country) in April 2008. I would be working as a research botanist searching for biodiversity hotspots (and my special love- orchids) with an expedition group. Can anyone suggest any other research organisations working in Cambodia, or provide any contacts that may be able to further advise me? This group is fauna focussed and it appears I would be the lead botanist at this stage. As a temperate terrestrial botanist, the Cambodian expedition will be a real treat and very challenging. I currently have Orchid Genera of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam by A. Schuitman and E.F. de Vogel which is a great resource. Do any of you know of other field guides and or reports that may be useful? I am planning on buying Cardamon Mountains: Biodiversity Survey by Flora and Fauna International soon. Thanks for any comments or advice you may provide.
Regards, Kath
