Fear not, previously identified species regularly are
found "in the wild," as I can attest from a recent visit,
and many new species are being found and cataloged by
researchers at the Lankester Botanical Garden.

Are Costa Rican orchids endangered? Certainly; commercial
developments are making inroads there as in every part of
the world. On that topic, please see Franco Pupulin's
recent publication on Vanishing Beauties, available from
the Garden.

I leave this afternoon for a conservation conference in
Costa Rica knowing that I will hear much more about the
orchid jewls in Costa Rica.
