...Which is true for the international trade, I am sure. However, the chief
destination of wild-collected plants is, I fear, to (1) local week-enders, who
want something in a pot for their window sill (2) folk medical uses and (3)
animal fodder. The third has almost stripped the once-huge Flickingeria
population of the Nepal terai, for example, to the advantage of tethered
goats.
