Bonaventure, Actually, your statement should be 'I don't believe "Sophronitis coccinea" is even in the same genus as Soph cernua.....' because S cernua is the type species for Sophronitis, and that being the case, whatever changes are made, it will most likely remain a Sophronitis and S coccinia would have to change.
In one of the more recent revisions (and as I understand it, it is based on the very same DNA work) Chiron and Castro Neto did just that by placing all the former Sophronitis in Hadrolaelia, with the exception of S cernua and S pterocarpa. However, don't change your tags just yet; I understand that a new set of DNA work is underway with much more extensive molecular analysis being done. So further changes may occur. The real question is; Will the Kew Monocot Checklist and Genera Orchidacearum change if it does. icones > In reply to Leo, > > I don't believe that "Sophronitis" cernua is even in the same genus as > Soph. coccinea, never mind S. pumila, S. tenebrosa, or S. purpurata for > that matter.
