Thanks to all that answered me (you too Nina,
So far though I have to catch up past my 7/31 OGD's in reading. In short, I was
hoping that a say Epi. Hokulea type crossed with a say, very bulbous and full
randii or cordigerum type, would look nice and be genetically compatable and
easy to grow.
Yes, I do have Butterfly Kisses.
Crosses attempted today:
Enc. Green Hornet x Eplc. Don Herman
Eplc. Don Herman x Eplc. Charlie Brown
Eplc. Charlie Brown x Eplc. Don Herman
Eplc. Charlie Brown x Schomboleiliocattonia Garnet (Ruby?)
Schomboleiliocattonia Garnet (Ruby?) x Eplc. Charlie Brown
No Epi. rigidum was available or else I would have tried it on everything.

Howdy, Bonaventure.
I'm not 100% sure if I "catch your drift", but if a typical reed-stem
crossed with Epi. conopseum--not bulbous,
but "pseudobulbous"--qualifies to answer your question, some time ago I
bought a number of seedlings of this
(purported) cross, and ALL of them turned out exactly the same, that is,
all looked to me EXACTLY like
the reed-stem parent, both vegetatively and florally. In fact, so much
so, that I wondered if the
conopseum was involved at all! (A slight slip of the toothpick?)
Nor did they appear to inherit any cold-tolerance, I might add....
("Ashes to ashes, dust to dust".....)
I realize that I did not specify the reed-stem (aleged) participant, but
either the species ibaguense or a similar hybird called
"Big Red" seems to come to mind.....(It was many years ago--plus it was
pre-K (pre-Katrina))
Hope this helps!
Dan S.
P.S. I wonder if I could get a gratis DNA paternity test if I
submitted this hybird to Jerry Springer?
