A few days ago I posted a puzzle as to the species name of a particular Gongora.
I put an image of my painting on my website www.orchidpainter.com/mysteryplant.htm I got several replies with suggestions that ranged from minax, maxim, truncata and leucochila. Both Marc Hachadourian at the Ny Botanical Gardens and Dr. Charles Bracker from Purdue came up with leucochila. I looked at the photos on http://www.orchidsrepbiol.de/cgi-bin/img_db/img_display.pl?db=_vwstanhopeina e <http://www.orchidsrepbiol.de/cgi-bin/img_db/img_display.pl?db=_vwstanhopein ae&t=usr_gg1&page=6&genera=Gongora&species=all&select=&cols=5&size=25> &t=usr_gg1&page=6&genera=Gongora&species=all&select=&cols=5&size=25 and leucochila looks exactly like the Gongora specimen that I painted Unless someone comes up with a better idea, I will assume that leucochila is it. Since Marc was the first one to come up with it, I will send him a print. Thanks to all of you. It was fun.
