I use Green Plastic Coated Chain Link Fencing Wire obtained in a hardware store. The bare wire diamater is 2 mm (AWG 12) Diameter with the coating on is 3 mm (AWG 9) This wire comes in rolls of various lengths. I have made stakes from this wire as long as 3 ft.
