"a rare orchid near Nature's Valley on the Garden Route...

Acrolophia barbata is a naturally occurring Cape orchid.
It's the rarest of its genus, which occurs from the Cape Peninsula to the
Eastern Cape.

Populations of this orchid are generally small, comprising only a few
plants which are pollinated by a small bee.
... A barbata has a sweet scent, which probably attracts the bee.

... The plant has 65 blossoms...
it was found on private land...

Author William Liltved, who is writing a book about Cape orchids...
travelled from Cape Town to see the plant"
