Iris

A couple of varieties that do well for me-they're good flowerers,
flower on long stems (well, except for M. strobellii, M. glandulosa
and M. Snowcone-which flower around the base of the plant)

M. Snowcone (rex x glandulosa) (Pink flowers, strong rootbeer scent)
M. glandulosa (flowers in January, small flowers that smell of
cinnamon candy and oddly enough, melted plastic)
M. tonduzii (Pale yellow and white flowers, light lemony scent)
M. White Angel (White with a yellow throat, flowers from late summer
to early fall)
M. Pony Tails (glandulosa x macrura)
M. strobellii (very tiny plant with large flowers)
Masdevallia (Alaticaulia) empusa (red, meaty and bad smelling, like
iodine, but very easy to grow and nicely floriferous)
M. Keiko Komoda (beautiful large yellow orange flowers)

I live on Long Island where the summers are certainly hot enough. I
grow them under lights in the winter.

Hope this helps.
