Charles Lee has to think four years ahead when he decides what orchid 
varieties he will nurture to maturity. If he guesses incorrectly and the 
orchids are not "in fashion" when they are mature, he loses. Conversely, if 
he makes the right decision, he cashes in.

Beatrice and Charles Lee, owners of the Blossoming Orchid Nursery... have 
been engaged in the orchid business in Aromas since the late 1980s. The 
couple met... while enrolled in an English language class. Charles had just 
arrived from his native Taiwan and Beatrice had left her home in France...

the couple decided to relocate to California where they could pursue their 
mutual love of orchids...

Explaining that as an orchid grower he is completely self-taught, Lee said 
that he "practiced for years" to learn how to grow orchids successfully. 
"It took about 20 years to get really comfortable doing this," he said. Now 
that he has mastered the growing part, Lee said... "The hard part is 
finding new and reliable customers!"
