Hmmm. Iris, can you provide any evidence that supports that statement ? It
doesn't match my field observations, where I commonly see plants that appear
to be virus-infected. I haven't taken any of them home & tested them, of
course.

I suspect the statement may be on a par with other urban legends, eg "Each
orchid species is only pollinated by one insect species", and the ubiquitous
"Sharks don't get cancer".
