"The Nature Conservancy of Canada believes the endangered orchid now stands
a better chance of survival since it purchased a 1,455-acre (589 hectare)
ecologically significant property in West Quebec in the Ottawa Valley.

The property is located in the municipality of Clarendon, 100 kilometres
west of Ottawa and is very rich in its biodiversity...

Plant life includes... one of the most important populations of the ram's
head lady's-slipper, a globally vulnerable orchid...

Money for the acquisition came from the federal government, under its
Natural Areas Conservation Program, launched in 2007... It has a goal of
accelerating the ability of groups like the nature conservancy to protect
natural areas.
...
Since 1962, conservancy and its partners have helped protect close to two
million acres (809,371 hectares) of ecologically significant land in
Canada, including 37,066 acres (15,000 hectares) in Quebec."
