"   "One of the biggest reasons an orchid doesn't bloom is that it's 
getting insufficient light," says Jo Anne Hartzler, immediate past 
president of the Tampa Bay Orchid Society...

Hartzler says. "... if you're able to put your hand over the orchid and it 
creates a slight shadow, that's enough light. If the leaves are hot, it's 
getting too much light. Thinner leaves don't take as much light as leaves 
that are thicker."

Usually, she says, the light provided by screen-covered porches and pool 
cages is just right.

Here are some of her favorite orchids.

Bulbophyllum ambrosia

good moisture and filtered light. Bulbophyllum ambrosia blooms in a 
symmetrical pattern and has a pleasant fragrance.

A spring bloomer... tiny flowers"
