"Q. On the bloom stems of my Phalaenopsis orchid, leaves are growing
instead of flowers...

A. ... Your Phalaenopsis is propagating... The new plants growing on the
stem... kie[ei]kis... clones of the mother plant.
...
The best conditions for Phalaenopsis include moderate light, high humidity,
warm night temperatures and moderate fertility [fertilization...]...

For interior growth, choose a location that has bright light, but no direct
sunlight; outside, under the shade of a tree or in a heavily screened
enclosure.

Moth orchids prefer a humidity of between 50 percent and 80 percent.
House-grown Phalaenopsis benefit from being placed on a saucer of gravel
and water to raise the humidity around the plant.

Orchid fertilization...
Use a complete fertilizer with a 1-1-1 ratio. Plants grown in bark may need
more nitrogen found in products with a 3-1-1 ratio. Nutrients may be
applied in liquid, granular or slow-release forms.
...
Water moth orchids when the medium is dry; water thoroughly so the roots
and medium are soaked.
...
Many species of Phalaenopsis will grow vegetative offsets or kie[ei]kis at
the bloom nodes and can take many months to mature; when they do --
demonstrated by a healthy set of roots -- remove them and pot in a good
orchid medium."
