Vanilla planifolia This orchid does not sprout pods, but develops seed pods from hand-pollinated flowers. Since the flowers last only one day and are best pollinated at very early hours of the day, the pods develop infrequently. We have had pods in the past and I will transfer pollen on ours at Royal Botanical Gardens tomorrow. A friend from Sri Lanka suggests that the top of the plant must droop down. Ours does and flowers regularly.
