"Q: ... would like to move... orchids growing on the bark of... tree to
another spot. How... ?
...
A: Lightly spray the roots with water several times for a minute or so and
wait two to three minutes between sprays. This will help make the roots
easier to pry off the bark.

Gently pry off as many of the roots as possible...
The orchid needs at least two to three inches of intact roots firmly
attached to the plant.

Attach the plant firmly to a suitable tree or palm that has about the same
light exposure.
Use an old nylon stocking or plastic-covered twist-ties to attach your
orchid to its new site.
Remove these items once the orchid roots are firmly reattached.

Because of hurricanes and cold snaps in the winter, consider growing your
orchids on slabs of bark or orchid baskets so that you can easily place
your plants in a protected location."
