Hi Everyone.
I saw these urinals a year ago. They area beautiful and for that reason not
very useful. Who could pee on them? Runs contrary to all we do with orchids.
On another note IOSPE [www.orchidspecies.com] has gone over 8600 species in
717 genera. I have added about 75 Australian species from John Varigos that are
quite nice and I have added close to 200 new and or improved ones of Eric
Hunt's who has graced IOSPE for many years with his fabulous photos. I have
also added quite a few photos from Andre Schuittman and Ed DeVogel from Leiden
University in the Netherlands. Most all of their photos are orchids from New
Guinea. I have also used many photos from Lourens Grobler in South Africa so
the African Orchids are better represented.
I keep thinking that the flow of photos of new species would slow down now
that most all the commercial orchids are represented but to my amazement I am
finding that more photos than ever are arriving. I have at least another 200
new species waiting to be addressed. I just can't find enough time to get to
them all.
I have to publically thank Peter O'Byrne and Eric Christenson for their
continued help with IOSPE in identifying oddball species. Without them there
would be a lot more mistakes on IOSPE than there are.
If some of you out there have some spare time and would like to help the site
in an easy way that is not too time consuming and is all online, write to me
offline and I will let you know what could be done to help.
Keep on having an excellent summer and happy growing!
Jay Pfahl
