I actually enjoy all the name changes in orchids..rather than be upset, I found the idea of lumping Laelia into Sophronitis quite amusing...and I didn't think it was ridiculous at all...now its all Cattleya? Great...makes even more sense. I do not agree that these changes are of major concern for most growers. I haven't changed any names on my tags (granted, I have mostly paphs anyway...), and the last I have seen, all the catalogs are still selling their plants under the usual names...I have yet to see Laelia purpurata sold as Sophronitis purpurata....and I somehow doubt that next year I'll see it sold as Cattleya purpurata. Take care, Eric Muehlbauer in breezy Queens NY...where the raccoons have decided that my shady bog garden makes a perfect commode......
