Peter,

While I agree with your observation, I've always felt it appropriate  
to at least offer to purchase anything from someone if the object  
obtained by you will enable you to make money. I.E. if you need  
pollen to make a new cross that you're going to sell, you recognize  
that and offer something to the person.

Now I'll be the first to admit I have no idea how the hybridizer  
community handles this - I only know that I occasionally hear people  
make offhand remarks at shows about making sure nefarious people  
don't remove pollinia from blooms.

Kathy, I'm mighty relieved to hear that. Your post made me think the  
last
vestiges of the free world (phrase not meant in the US-Republican  
sense) had
