I think when they say "after additional conversations with the open source
community", they actually mean "after a large group of FOSS advocates
started loudly banging on our door". They've already proven that they have
nothing but contempt for the GNOME team, but when enough people shout about
it to make it newsworthy, it can actually hurt their bottom line. Funny how
quickly their tune changes when the dollars are at stake.
