I haven't seen this type of behavior in 1.6.3. I routinely kill processes ungracefully. However, I don't suggest that you upgrade to 1.6.3 either as it has some other more subtle issues. I'm not sure what the current stable release is.... is it 1.6.3-hotfix or 1.6.4?
