Hi, To prevent memory fragmentation and avoid some memory leaks reported on Linux core by our users we allocate direct memory by big chunks. If you want to avoid that could you set property memory.chunk.size to the lower value, for example to 125 * 1024 * 1024 = 131 072 000 . And DB will consume much less memory at start but will work a bit slower.
More details there if you wish to read http://andreylomakin.tumblr.com/post/137154835613/how-to-calculate-maximum-amount-of-memory-consumed On Wed, Feb 24, 2016 at 4:15 PM Luca Garulli <[email protected]> wrote: > I think it's computing the sum of heap + direct memory (as virtual memory). > > Best Regards, > > Luca Garulli > Founder & CEO > OrientDB <http://orientdb.com/> > > > On 24 February 2016 at 15:02, Mark <[email protected]> wrote: > >> On Win 7, 64bit, jdk 8u72, through task/process manager, approximately >> 1.1 gigabyte memory used >> by OrientDB. >> >> >> >> On Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 4:14:31 AM UTC-6, l.garulli wrote: >>> >>> How did you measured 1GB? >>> >>> Best Regards, >>> >>> Luca Garulli >>> Founder & CEO >>> OrientDB <http://orientdb.com/> >>> >>> >>> On 24 February 2016 at 00:12, Mark <[email protected]> wrote: >>> >>>> Over a gig seemed high compared to previous versions consuming 80-100 >>>> megabytes of memory, >>>> so this would be typical memory use for 2.2 beta? >>>> >>>> thanks again, >>>> Mark >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> On Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 4:44:27 PM UTC-6, l.garulli wrote: >>>>> >>>>> Hi Mark, >>>>> No special cfg, just this setting if you run OrientDB embedded: >>>>> -XX:MaxDirectMemorySize=512g.
