ok I figured it out. Took me a while though.

For whoever might be interested in increasing zooming capabilities of 
OrientDB studio:
- edit in place the studio zip archive
- change this code from scripts/script.js (line 43249 for studio-2.1.zip)
from
 .scaleExtent([0.5, 5])
to
 .scaleExtent([0.005, 500])

This patch changes everything :-D
