Florence Temko has a box made of 18 playing cards:

You can make a cube from24 playing cards by adding to Temko's box.
We call it a tile cube in Beginner's Book of Modular Origami Polyhedra
where each square tile is made from two interlocked rectangles. There
are pockets on four sides and a square can hinge two interlocked
squares together. So it's 12 rectangles for the faces of the cube and
12 more for the edges for the cube.
