Dear Anine,

I know it's been a while since you wrote your email, but only today
did I find some time to give your twist box a go. It's ingenious, I
really love it!

I was wondering whether you'd found the time to draw diagrams for it
yet. I think it'd be wonderful as a Christmas present box / wrapping,
don't you think?

Also, as you may know I have an ongoing origami project where I make
instructional videos for different models. Like that I hope to promote
origami and the work of selected origami designers. In particular, I
try to highlight different artists - such as yourself.
So I was also wondering whether you'd allow me to make such an
instructional video on your great 6-pointed crown.

I'll tell you a bit more about my project to give you an idea what
it's all about:

I started with origami about 6.5 years ago, and was surprised and
delighted by how open the origami community was. It seemed everyone
was willing to share, and thus I felt a great desire to contribute,
too. I also realised that while reading diagrams is great, some people
have a hard time following them. Especially with 3D models putting the
steps into 2D can be hard. (Perhaps also for your twist box?) This is
why teaching origami is often very useful. It is also how the idea for
my origami project started. I started teaching origami in the origami
society at my university, and this could be useful to so many more.
Not everyone has the privilege of knowing someone in their area that
teaches origami, and
origami courses are quite rare in many parts of the world. But there's
internet, with which you can reach many people. You can introduce them
to new ideas, or give them new insights into their existing interests.
This is when I decided that making instructional videos might be an
option for me to contribute to the origami community.
Since then I have been in contact with several origami designers, most
of whom have generously granted me permission to demonstrate the
folding of some of their origami designs. I post these videos on
YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/AdamsSara) and everyone can view
them free of charge. I have also set up a website,
http://www.happyfolding.com, which provides additional information on
the videos, but also an origami dictionary, a gallery, books I own,
etc.

The models I present range in complexity, and I have put an effort
into improving the quality of my videos over time. I think my more
recent videos - such as the Navel Shell by Tomoko Fuse
http://www.happyfolding.com/instructions-fuse-navel_shell - best show
the level that I currently produce videos in.

If you'd courteously give me permission to make and post a video on
your twist box as part of my online project, I'd be absolutely
delighted
and very grateful. I also think many others out there would be very
grateful and get to experience your work, which they might not have
been aware of before. The opening credits would of course mention your
full name and your website http://pappersvikning.blogspot.se/ and/or
any other relevant sources you'd like mentioned. If you have published
the crease pattern (or if they exist yet: diagrams) other than on your
webiste, I could also mention that publication.

Also, as I just did one quick fold from the crease pattern you
graciously provided on
http://pappersvikning.blogspot.se/2012/08/one-piece-twist-box.html , I
probably don't have the most elegant folding sequence yet. If you have
any preferences as to how the box should be folded / presented in the
video, I'd be happy for your suggestions.

Finally, I would understand if you did not agree to this request. If
this is the case, or I do not hear back from you with permission
please feel
assured that I will not make a video demonstrating how to fold any of
your designs. But if you do allow me to post videos on your twist box,
thank you very much indeed! It'd be an honour to promote your work and
make it accessible to a wider audience.
As to timing, I do think it'd be a great model for giving away
presents. And with Christmas around the corner, I could perhaps
fast-track the model and make a video for December. (I usually contact
designers several months before I produce a video, but once in a while
- if it is ok with the designer - speed up the process.)

Best wishes, and happy folding,

-- Sara
