Helaman Ferguson's umbilic torus. commissioned by Jim Simons for the
Simons Center* for Geometry and Physics (thanks to Michael Assis for

Ferguson is a mathematician/sculptor who wrote the software for the
robot needed to make the etchings.

*Although this activity is not directly related to origami, it does
link art and mathematics. Also, the Simons Center hosted Christine
Edison as the first resident artist this past summer.
