Hi everyone,
Yes it's short notice, but . .after prolonged and difficult negotiations, we have finally (finally!) made the arrangements for the 2012 Israeli Origami Convention, our 6th. It will be split between a convention and an Origami & Math event Here are the confirmed details: __The Convention__ will be held in the Leonardo Inn Hotel in Jerusalem, which just to confuse us all is not the same Leonardo Hotel you might know from previous conventions . and further, in November it will be renamed The Jerusalem Garden (!). It's a very pleasant 3-star hotel with good convention rooms, good food and an extremely reasonable room tariff. The dates are Wed 12th to Fri 14th December 2012. Our special guest is Miyuki Kawamura. Her visit is sponsored by the Japan Foundation, as part of the 2012 programme to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Japan. Overseas visitors are exempt from paying convention fees and need pay only room and board. __The Origami & Math__ event will be held at the Teacher Center in Tel Aviv. It will focus on origami and math/geometry as taught in the kindergarten and in Grades 1-6. Miyuki san will give workshops, as will I and Miri Golan will talk about the Origametria programme. We have also arranged Skype links with a few top - repeat, 'top'! -- origami math luminaries. The day is primarily for teachers who have already studied origami and math at the Center, but overseas visitors with an interest in the subject are welcome to attend, gratis. The date is Sunday 9th Dec (Sunday is a working day in Israel). This should be an great opportunity for people who teach origami math and geometry to meet and learn from each other. This is what we know as of today. Later in the week we will know the hotel tariff and convention costs. We suggest that people who are interested to attend should please contact us by email and we will be pleased to pass along prices and booking details as they come through. We can also assist with information about hotels and trips. Our contact email is [email protected] We look forward to welcoming you to our warm winter sunshine! (Please consider passing this email along to your off-List friends, who you think may be interested to attend. Thank you.) Best wishes, Paul Jackson Miri Golan Israeli Origami Center
