I'm forwarding this very sad news from the BOS mailing list. I had the good fortune to finally meet David in person - after many years of reading his wonderfully scholarly messages here on the O-list - at the BOS 40th convention a number of years ago. In addition to the seemingly endless knowledge of origami history, which he was always willing to share, he was charming, funny, gracious... and a kind and gentle man who was very welcoming to this near-stranger at the convention. I'll miss him.
Anne ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Penny Groom Date: Thu, Feb 14, 2013 at 7:14 AM Subject: [BOSmail] David Lister To: [email protected] Mick Guy has just phoned me with the sad news that David Lister has passed away. He had been ill for a couple of weeks so it was not unexpected but no less a shock. I will let you know the date and venue for his funeral when I hear. Nick Robinson sent the message below " we will create a tribute page within David's section of the BOS website and people can add things there". Nick will send a message telling later you when it's ready Please add your memories of David, however small, he was pivotal to the BOS and we all loved him. I'll be in touch when I know more, Regards Penny Penny Groom Membership Secretary & President British Origami Society www.britishorigami.info ---------- end forwarded message ----------
