You might check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdFyZZ9z3N0 The project is a sword made out of dozens of small cubes. They are made to resemble 8-bit pixel art. I would guess with a bit of work you could convert the pixel cubes to any shape you wanted. - ------------------------ Seeing this sword, made me think of connecting Menger Sponge units. http://theiff.org/oexhibits/paper06.html There are some plastic units that can be assembled. Many of them look like flattened Sonobe units.
