Hi. I'm pretty sure pre creasing can be done with laser etching, for paper, metal, etc. I'd wanted to etch thick metal foils years ago for mass produced Origane but didn't have the capital to make it happen. By scoring a material on one side, you give it the proclivity to fold to the opposite side, in effect pre creasing it. That may be the machine you saw referenced, though I didn't read the mysterious newsletter either.
