One of our local POPS members sent the following request to our local list.  
The hope is that someone might recognize the folds and when these folds might 
have become common.  Interesting looking folds, particularly if they were 
folded in the 1900 - 1920 time span.  Thanks for  your help.

There is a very interesting exhibit, through June, at 'Ampersand

Paper is folded into dozens of patterns, sort of square snowflake 
folding. Nothing too unusual by origami standards, but these were 
made a long time ago: the owner believes 1920s, I think they're 
certainly before the 1940s. I have not heard of this type of folding 
from such an early time, and the question is whether the unknown 
maker derived the patterns on their own. They were obtained in San Francisco.
I think it would be interesting if someone could forward this notice 
to national paperfolding email lists.
The owner, Myles, is a good guy who would be very interested to learn
