I remember that the
inside packaging of the gelatin, where the powder actually came, was
a type of wax paper that unfolded into a spout to pour out the
gelatin. Once empty, you could unfold this package into a rectangular
piece of paper. If I remember correctly, no glue was used for this
packaging. It was just a folded rectangular piece of paper.
Might it be my imagination or does any one have the same recollection?

Yeah, it was rolled flat, like a french fell seam (think the side seam of
jeans). Not sure about the sides of the packet, tho.
