Late last night, I got an e-mail from someone that I had met at the OUSA Convention. They are teaching a Lafayette College in Easton PA. He has arranged for a series of events featuring Origami, Math and Science. Today was the kick off event. Kathy Kroll's Dance troop performed a couple of dance utilizing large pieces of origami with in there dance. I missed the first routine. The second dance revolved around large units. Once assembled they form one cube of the Menger Sponge. The printing on the units resembled a Rubics Cube. There was a small table where Hiro was exhibiting his models made from NYC Metrocards. There was a demo of the folding paper kayak. In addition, there was a gallery display of origami works and short videos. I had seen pictures of the folded plastic models with "skeletons" inside on the internet but this is the first time that I had seen them. There were works by Robert Lang and the Demaines. The paper kayak is on display. One of the videos shows an X-ray of a Demaine twisted fold - similar to the untrained eye, like the one on the PAPER cover a few issues back. The following video was showing Robert Lang's folding and unfolding of an airbag. Robert will be speaking on September 23. The Demaines will be speaking on October 7. Unfortunately for me, I will be still in Albuquerque after PCOC.
