Hi all
Not sure if this has been spotted or reported before... but just in case...
while shopping at our local supermarket we noticed and purchased a copy of the
NME (New Musical Express for us oldies...)

The issue dated 12/10/13 has David Bowie on the front cover. It is a brand new,
exclusive photo of David Bowie, art-directed by the man himself, and features
David standing among a mobile of traditional cranes, holding one of them. It's
a great shot, and the interviews inside the magazine - 12 pages in all -
feature more cranes, crane crease patterns, and mini cranes leading the reader
through the interviews with song lyrics... all in all there's quite a lot of
origami there.. but curiously no mention of why the cranes, why origami?
Probably from the content of the interviews you're led to draw your own
conculsions.

The articles celebrate the impending release of 'The Next Day Extra', the
expanded edition of Bowie's surprise, 2013 comeback album.

The NME has also recently undergone a bit of a makeover and is also now
available in digital format. See http://www.nme.com/news/david-bowie/73072

The articles include some classic quotes such as "You could call the changes to
NME a redesign, but we prefer to think of it as a reinvention," says editor
Mike Williams, pictured. "And in the spirit of reinvention, only one artist
could grace this week’s cover: David Bowie. David Bowie is the cosmic umbilical
cord that connects the past, present and future of music. The new NME aims to
be the definitive guide to all the above."

Splendid stuff, but what about the cranes? Answers on a postcard please...

Regards

Tony
