I some time wonder why do we spend so much time and effort to create a
certain division or finding a certain point using folding only. For me
main pleasure of Origami is in creating some thing nice or graceful from
paper using folding only. In the process if I need to use some
instruments, why should it be considered as cheating? In fact in my
opinion little bit of cutting or a spot of glue here or there is also not
cheating.

One square no cuts no glue seems to be the traditional definition of Origami
someone decided upon at some point in time.
I have not read no tools...but always made the assumption no tools were to
be used.
It would follow that more forms classified as Origami today than not - do
not fit the traditional definition, i.e.
modular, dollar and other base paper shapes, metal, plastic etc. materials,
wet folding, computer generated CPs and formulas (quite a tool) and more are
all outside the traditional definition.
Maybe those forms need to be classified as a different form of
paper/material sculpture; maybe rewrite the the definition of Origami to
suit ones need; maybe ignore the tradition; and, does it matter?
OriFUN to all,
