Yesterday afternoon, I got the first news (via Robert, on the O-List) of a one-person show of Robert J Lang’s work at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. --- It came just in time. Hank & I wrapped up our afternoon activities and hightailed it down to Pasadena (about 85 miles), arriving at about 730pm, which was 30 min late, so we probably missed some opening remarks. --- Nevertheless, we had a great time. Nice to see Robert again, of course! I finally (what took me so long?) got my 1st-edition copy of Origami Design Secrets signed. And then there was the work on display. --- Awesome! Many outstanding models to view in 3-D, as they are almost all in clear plastic boxes that you can walk around. And, yes, there were even some large (probably 4 feet by 6 feet) display boards on the walls, of pages from the tessellations book he’s working on and some pages of actual software code from “Treemaker”, the computer program he wrote to assist in design of complicated creatures. A wonderful exhibit, showing a good overview of the range of work and the mastery of the art form by one very talented and able origamist par excellence. --- Hank has photos on his cell phone (they allowed use of cell-phone cameras only). If we can figure out how to get them onto my computer, I’ll post some on my Facebook page (Michila Caldera). ..... from Chila ---------------------------------------------------------- Chilagami - I think, therefore I fold; I fold, therefore I am Folding for Fun in the Mojave Desert Southern California, USA [email protected] www.origamichila.blogspot.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
