So, Is origami an art form? Are we making sculptures?

For me, origami is not art. It is a technique, just like curving, painting
with brushes or molding. As such, one can use it to make art. Is every
origami model an art piece? I don't think so, and I think the majority of
non origamists think the same. And it is perfectly OK, just like with
paintings - not every painting my son painted is art, for sure.

So, saying that every folder who recreate a model from diagrams is an artist
is farfetched for me.

Same goes for the origami designers. We have to admit - not all the origami
models are art.

Where is the line between "just an origami model" and "an art piece"?
somewhere near the line between Beauty and Nice. I never found it, but I can
say which is which when I see them.

Origami creator for me is a designer. If the piece or model he made is
artistic in nature and level, this designer is also an artist, a sculptor.
His piece is now a sculpture.
Origami folder is a folder. Again, if the piece or model he made is artistic
in nature, this designer is also an artist, a sculptor.

I do not see the creation process as a creation by itself, like with music.
Folding as a performance is as valid as every modern art performances, but
no more than that. I see origami piece only in the final model.

Just my humble opinion.
