A quick thank you for the suggestions and links for the Star Wars Reads origami activity at the Princeton Public Library this afternoon!
As I had expected, everyone who came over the course of the hour was between 4 and 8 years old or a parent/grandparent, so I kept things very very simple. We folded Tom Angleberger's Simple Yoda and Darth Paper as hand-puppets from 8 1/2 x 11 inch colored paper. The kids added faces and decorations with markers. For a Light Saber, we rolled up a rectangular sheet of red printer paper, flattened it, and ran it back and forth over the edge of the table to strengthen the creases and to give it a bit of a curve. The library had copies of Angleberger's books and Chris Alexander's Star Wars Origami on hand, and several kids looked through those with a lot of interest.
