I use an Elmo document camera when teaching full classes (35 - 40) of
children. It works quite well.
The advantages are everyone can see clearly, and I can highlight small
details.
The disadvantage is that the projection needs a darker area to be  most
effective, and the folders need enough light to fold by. Removing the
lights in the front of the room works quite well, or we usually switch off
the lights altogether as our climate usually affords enough natural light
to fold by.
Also, I need to watch the screen, so that my hands don't get in the way of
the camera and obstruct the very fold I am demonstrating.
