Hi everyone, here's my monthly update on stuff I've been posting. I hope you enjoy all the content!
1. Instructional videos This month I decided to revisit a model I presented back when I started with producing video tutorials - the hydrangea by Shuzo Fujimoto. It's a fractal design I've loved throughout the years, and I hope the new instructions make it even more accessible to others. In particular, I decided to show two techniques (pull or push) for one of the essential steps of forming the next layer (invert a pyramid). So even if you already know how to fold this model, this might be worth your while. While the model does require large sheets of paper, it's totally worth the beautiful color change. What to Fold Perhaps a bit late, but in February I posted some suggestions on what to fold for Chinese New Year, concentrating on sheep models. But then again, it's the Year of the Sheep for quite a while still, and there's no harm in folding sheep in general, is there? :) Video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26eL_-SNGL0 Video on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/what_to_fold-2015_02 3. Your Origami Folds In February, Your Origami Folds was all about "You are always in my heart" designed by Andrey Lukyanov (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW-ocuUNXBA). As always, it was such a pleasure to see many folds, and I think Valentine's Day motivated lots of you especially. :) Video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m71vN0TsJF4 Video on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/your_origami_folds-2015_02 If you'd like to contribute to the series, here are the deadlines for the next two videos: March 14th 2015 for "Sheep" designed by Román Díaz ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OewU1SsI5A) April 11th 2015 for any model featuring the "Hydrangea" by Shuzo Fujimoto - for example simply the hydrangea, or Dáša's hydrangea ribbon box, a tiling of the hydrangea (e.g. http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-fujimoto-hydrangea_tiling ), ... Simply submit your photo by sending me an email including a statement that allows me to use that photo in a video. I look forward to seeing your folds! 4. Paper review: Golden River Ilan Garibi and Gadi Vishne have completed another wonderful paper review, this time concentrating on the Japanese "Golden River" paper, also known as leather paper. It scored really well, so do check out the full article to wet your appetite for this beautiful paper! Review on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/paper-review_golden_river Review on OrigamiUSA: https://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/paper-review-24-golden-river Don't forget to thank Ilan ([email protected]) and Gadi ([email protected]) for their superb work in this area! 5. OrigamiUSA Convention Last but not least, I've got some exciting news! I've been invited to the OrigamiUSA Convention in New York this year as one of the special guests. I feel very honored and am really look forward to meeting many of you. As this is my first non-European convention, and a much larger one than any I have been before, I'm really excited to meet many folders out there that I haven't before. And as I am often introduced as "the video person" at conventions, how could I not record a short video that also includes this announcement? :) Video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-0bcijTR8k Videon on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/vlog_attending_origamiusa_convention_2015 More info on the convention: https://origamiusa.org/convention2015 And with that I wish you a great weekend and of course happy folding! -- Sara
