Invitation to Origami Exhibition
Coming up in October-November 2015 in the UK is an exciting exhibition,
organised via the British Origami Society, to which members of the worldwide
origami community are invited to contribute:

“In the Fold - Origami inspired by Nature” exhibition – 13th Oct – 8th Nov 2015
at the Nature In Art Museum (NIA), near Gloucester. See their website
www.nature-in-art.org.uk which contains more information and photos of current
and future exhibitions. The museum’s Director, Simon Trapnell, is organising an
exhibition of origami, with related workshops over the month. There are a
number of exhibition rooms available, with a mix of wall space, free standing
display plinths and glass exhibition cabinets, so lots of options available for
exhibits. These may be 2D or 3D, and may feature subjects or scenes from the
natural world (animals, birds, insects etc) or the geometric or abstract aspect
of nature, and subjective interpretations. Basically, it’s quite a wide
subject, open to many interpretations!

I will be sending out more details & personal invitations to contribute to this
exciting exhibition by email, and advertising the exhibition in due course on
our web-site & Facebook site etc, but if you are interested in taking part,
please contact me. Both UK-based & overseas folders are welcome to contribute
to this exhibition. The Museum is a registered charity and does not pay
exhibition fees to contributors, however any exhibits would be made available
for sale should the contributor wish, and the museum is willing to pay for some
transportation costs of exhibits. The BOS may also be able to assist with some
postal or transportation costs of exhibits (by prior arrangement with myself,
drop me a line), and collection & return of exhibits could also be available at
conventions or mini-meetings. As an alternative to having contributions
returned, you may elect to donate your exhibits to be used in future BOS
exhibitions.

It’s a great opportunity to show some of your best origami work in public, or
fold something new on the subject especially for this exhibition, which will be
seen by thousands of people over the course of the exhibition, and many more
via the NIA web-site and other origami & general networking avenues.

For more information on the above exhibition, and especially if you are
interested in contributing , please contact me: Tony O’Hare, BOS Public
Relations Officer. Email: [email protected] or Tel: 0117 9446106,
Mob: 07766 761251. I will also be at the BOS Spring Convention in Birmingham
next weekend, so you can also speak to me there. I look forward to hearing from
you.
