I was once taught that you can make a more precise crease if you fold towards an edge than if you fold towards a crease, since with the edge you can use not only your eyes but also your fingers to make a more accurate fold, so I usually do it that way (folding to an edge).
For example if I'm told to divide a square into 4 x 4 all valleys on the white side, I start color side up, bring an edge to the other, make a crease to mark the center of the paper, leave it folded and then bring each edge to that middle crease and then reverse the initial crease. This way I get a precise set of creases and I haven't seen much trouble for doing this in further steps or the result of the models I fold.. So what do people think about this? Is it really so important how the first crease is made or for the sake of precision (and if your not that pressured to finish the model) you can make it the way you find it easier? -- Jorge Jaramillo
