Hi everyone,

Laura wants to publish a children's book (perhaps even a series) that takes
parents and children on an origami journey.
My impression is she wants to do a twist between classic children books and
diagrams, perhaps including some storygami.
While I don't currently have time to help her bring that project to
publication, I did offer to let you know of her query.
You can contact her at [email protected]

Here's the messages she sent me:

I am seeking collaboration for my first children’s picture book, a series
> titled Origami Mommy.
> Like any mother, Origami Mommy wants to provide for her children. Follow
> Origami Mommy in a series of stories as she and her children overcome
> everyday obstacles by magically transforming paper into something her
> children need or want by using the traditional paper folding techniques of
> Origami. Every book will include directions and a piece of Origami paper
> so the reader can recreate the object portrayed in the story.
> My background is in Early Childhood Special Education and Elementary
> Education. I hold a Master of Arts in early childhood education from
> Columbia University. I am currently a Kindergarten Teacher in Bronx, NY.

and in response to some questions in particular with what kind of
collaboration she was thinking of:

To be honest, I think I am looking for that foot in the door contact, but
> would welcome any other help.
> I had an agent about 2 years ago, who loved the idea for the book. She
> dropped me because she said she could not find an editor who would work for
> free.
> I have since then sent out the story to agents, and publishers. As you
> know the publishers do not take manuscripts with out agents. The agents
> said they had too many projects, loved the idea, good luck.
> I am thinking of ages 4/5 to 9/10. Lots of pictures with little text.
> While I proclaim to be an excellent Doodler, I would need an illustrator to
> bring her to life. I am thinking soft water color pages.
> I am looking for someone to give it to the right person to get this
> project started.
> I can forward you the first story in the series if you are interested.
