I have a feeling that with every exhibition that's handled by an
institution should have at least short but written agreement. At least
about the dates, shipment and return. Am I right?

    What do you think?
Did you have any experiences with contracts? Would you send your work
    without any contract?

Generally, I require a written agreement. Usually it’s a signed contract, but
if I personally knew and trusted the curator, emailed agreement was sometimes
sufficient.

Whether you go with email or signed contract, it’s important to make explicit
who is responsible for shipping costs both ways and whether there is
door-to-door insurance coverage (typically that is provided or paid for by the
venue). And of course, whether there’s an exhibition fee and the amount.
