I've heard that the earrings must be facing the front when worn, but I'm tempted to fold something like tatos that are a bit bigger than 2.5 x 2.5 cm (1 x 1 in) for the earrings. The problem is that the sides of the jaw of the wearer would get in the way so they can't face the front. Does it really look bad if the folds face the sides instead of the front?
It doesn't look "bad" just that your folds won't be seen as easily. Mostly earrings face to the front because you're looking at someone face on, to see earrings facing sideways, you have to have them turn their head, or you go to the side ... We are just doing this pair of earrings as a craft, so we won't be buying any special sealant. We'll be using clear nail polish. Would it be better to apply it over the unfolded paper and wait for it to dry before making the fold or to apply it over the finished fold? My experience with sealants of any kind is that they sink into the paper, discoloring it. Brushing very lightly, not staying too long in one spot might help. Dee
