Hi everyone. First of all, I don't really know if there's a name for this
method, if there is one can you please tell me? I call it the "s" method
because when you look the paper by the edge you first form an "s", then you
pinch fold by thirds. Am I clear about what method I'm referring to?

I like this method, it doesn't leave unwanted creases on the paper. Now, my
experience is that when I teach it to relative origami beginners, some
struggle a little bit with it.

My question is, according to your own experience, is it easier and better
to teach relative beginners to divide the paper by thirds following which
of the following two options?

1. Only using the "s" method in one edge and then aligning that edge to
fold across the whole paper both times.

2. Using the "s" technique twice, one on each opposite edge of the paper,
and fold across the whole paper following the opposite pinch folds.

I hope I'm been clear. Please give me reasons as to why, according to your
experience, it's easier one option or the other when teaching this method
for the first time to people that have folded very little origami in the
past.

Thank you guys : )
