Hi folks!

Join us tomorrow where we talk with *Dave Brill *on the 13th episode of
Origami Talk.

*About David Brill:*
David Brill <http://www.brilliantorigami.com> was introduced to origami
when he learned the traditional flapping bird as a 5 year old in the early
'50s. He joined the British Origami Society in 1974, and met many other
enthusiasts who encouraged him to develop his own designs. He was BOS
Chairman from 1995 to 2004. His book Brilliant Origami was published in
1996 and sold more than 25000 copies before going out of print 10 years
later. In 2017 he was elected BOS President, a non-executive role running
for three years.

He has worked in many styles of origami: representational (animals,
figures, scenes), geometric (unit constructions), practical (boxes and
containers). His origami work is influenced by his other main artistic
activity as an oil painter: for him, each activity enriches the other. He
has travelled worldwide to share origami at conventions and exhibitions,
and maintains that origami knows no barriers, neither linguistic, nor
political, nor cultural.

Since his earliest experiments with origami as a child, he’s still
surprised by the extraordinary results obtainable from the simplest raw
material. The folder has no need for any equipment, simply the paper and
his hands. Indeed, the restrictions of the square of paper and the
unwritten rules of origami (no cutting, gluing, or decoration) encourage
the folder to overcome apparently impossible technical constraints.

After many years, he’s still intrigued by origami’s endless possibilities -
by unexpected movements of the paper while folding, and by the results
obtained, either extraordinarily complex or daringly simple.

*About tomorrow's session:*
Dave loves stories - about the origami creative process, about meetings
with origami personalities, about the evolution of a particular design,
about influences to and from other areas of life... etc. Join us to hear
some of his stories, and maybe to contribute some of your own.
