thanks for the "hints", but they did not help me very much!
BUT at this time - I GOT IT!!!!
_nowhere_ in the "docs" is described, that on
https://www.thawte.com/cgi/server/test.exe
you have to select at
"Type of Test Certificate"
---> Test SSL Chained CA Cert <---
... then it works
